This family-friendly cottage, a short walk from West Wittering's Blue Flag beach, combines tasteful interiors and historic charm to create a welcoming coastal retreat.
The main cottage sleeps four, with one King size room, one twin room, and a fully fitted bathroom upstairs, and a contemporary kitchen and open-plan dining and living space downstairs, perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach.
Further accommodation can be found in the Victorian wash house behind the cottage, recently converted to provide a King size double bedroom with French doors out onto a large landscaped garden, and its own living room, shower room and kitchenette.
Two large back gardens both with dining tables provide the perfect set up for alfresco meals while a pretty garden at the front of the cottage offers more space to catch the sun.
Reached via a private lane, the old coastguard cottage is on the creek, offering up views over the wetlands, a popular crabbing pool, and secluded spots to watch the sun set over the harbour, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty.
A harbour path leads to West Wittering’s expansive sandy beaches and dunes and the viewpoint at East Head. The cottage comes with two kayaks, single and double, and West Wittering boasts a centre for surfing, paddle-boarding, and a modern beach cafe, and windsurfing and horse riding lessons are available.
A short walk leads to an excellent village pub, butchers, general store, and cafe, while neighbouring East Wittering has a fishmonger, supermarkets and a range of independent shops.
A scenic coastal footpath leads from the cottage to Itchenor, and Chichester, a 20-minute drive away, is home to Chichester Cathedral and Pallant House Gallery.
